Tell me more about the staff and what is a 'Key Worker'?

Nurture Nursery Staff

Nursery School and Nurture Nursery are led by our Head Teacher and a qualified Teacher (QTS).

The staff within Nurture Nursery are highly experienced and qualified Senior Early Years Educators (SEYE) and Early Years Educators (EYE).

Two members of our team are 'Speech and Language Champions', specifically trained to support children and their parents in early communication development. We are all well trained and experienced in areas such as child development, supporting children with Special Educational Needs, Makaton, Parenting, Child Protection and much more. Staff take part in a regular programme of continuous professional development, keeping us up to date with current practice. We all hold a current paediatric first aid certificate.

Our staff have a broad range of previous experience working very closely with young children and families in roles such as Children Centre Family Support Workers, Teaching Assistants in schools, baby massage teachers, parenting group leaders, baby group and toddler music session leaders and day nursery room managers. We run the Nursery School's Stay and Play sessions, which are open to everyone, and between us we have eleven children of our own, and five grand children!  .

Nurture Nursery staff have worked with this particular age group for many years, giving us a thorough understanding of the distinct needs of 2-3-year-old children, how to encourage their healthy development and handle the issues that commonly arise in children of this age. We have supported numerous families to settle their youngsters happily into nursery and look forward to forming strong partnerships with parents to help understand each child’s individual needs.

Your Key Worker

Every child attending Nurture Nursery will have a 'Key Worker'. Children need to know there is a very special person who cares about everything that happens to them; someone to comfort them if they are worried, or tired, celebrate their successes and share their fun.

Your 'key worker' will be responsible for your child's personal care and well-being. Although your child will get to know all the staff in Nurture Nursery very well, your key worker will keep a special eye on your child and get to know you too.

Key workers also record children’s fun, experiences and achievements in a ‘Magic Moments’ book and share this with you during your time with us. We use this information to plan our activities and ensure your child's needs are included in everything we provide for the children. You keep this journal when they leave.

Your key worker will liaise with you to ensure we truly get to know your child so that their Nurture Nursery experience helps them grow and develop in the best way possible.
