What do you do about challenging behaviour at Nursery School?

We believe that for children to flourish they need a friendly, supportive environment that fosters strong relationships and where adults make them feel secure, appreciated and respected. We view all behaviour as a form of communication or an emotional response, and therefore our focus is on understanding the behaviour and working out how we can best support the child. Our routines and expectations at Nursery provide a clear and consistent structure within which children have freedom, choice and independence. All of our staff act as role-models for the behaviour and attitudes that we expect of the children, and we actively seek out and praise positive behaviour wherever we can.  Challenging behaviour would always be approached within this framework, working in close partnership with parents and carers and ensuring that children’s individual needs are taken into account.

For more details, please see our Behaviour and Relationship Policy. If you have any specific concerns please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s key worker.
